DESCRIPTION:Prof. Chris Brownson(University of Texas at Austin)Dr. Chris Brownson is the Associate Vice President for Health and Well-being at The University of Texas at Austin. In this conference he will address complex intersections between mental health\, student well-being\, and academic life in higher education. Drawing on over two decades of leadership in university counseling\, public health initiatives\, and large-scale prevention programs\, Dr. Brownson will present evidence-based strategies developed and implemented at UT Austin and across the 14 institutions of the University of Texas System. The conference will explore population-level approaches to mental health promotion\, suicide prevention\, substance use recovery\, and well-being infrastructure — with attention to how these models influence academic engagement\, institutional programs\, student safety\, mental health\, and student academic success.
